It is celebrated after March 21, the first Sunday after a full moon. It is celebrated to honour the awakening of new life in nature. It is connected with the word ‘east’ , where the sun rises. Christians related the rising of the sun to the resurrection of Jesus and their own spiritual rebirth. The most popular emblem of Easter is the Easter egg. Nowadays Easter eggs are made of chocolate, but the custom of painting eggs at Easter time is still very popular. The Easter bunny brings Easter eggs in a fancy basket. Easter will be celebrated on April 8th, 2012. Greek/Orthodox Easter will also be celebrated on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
